PALACINEMA LOCARNO
ERAD2022 took place at the PalaCinema in Locarno, the “House of Cinema”, which is located in the historic center of Locarno.
Since its inauguration in 2017 for the 70th edition of the International Film Festival of Locarno it hosts the Golden Pardo (International Film Festival award). PalaCinema also provides new spaces for the management of the festival, as well as a platform for new collaborations between the cinema sector and audiovisual production. For the rest of the year, PalaCinema is used as a space for events and as a classic theater. PalaCinema is easy to reach, which is situated in the historic center of Locarno, at the western end of Piazza Grande
The “Piazza Castello” bus stop is right in front of the conference center, and the “Locarno SBB/CFF/FFS” train station is located at a 15 minute walking distance. For those who book their hotels in Locarno, the conference center is also easy to reach on foot.
LOCARNO
Locarno is built on the delta of the magnificent Maggia river, in the western part of Ticino. The Locarno region is surrounded by Lake Maggiore, a breathtaking alpine landscape and several beautiful valleys, such as the Verzasca and Maggia valleys.
Nature is not the only attraction of the region; the traditions and culture of the region, as well as the artistic heritage are worth mentioning. The Sacro Monte della Madonna del Sasso, Monte Verità, the Visconteo Castle and the Old Town are just a few examples of this interest.
A mild climate and its special position on the southern side of the Alps allow several year-round activities to take place, from such events of great acclaim as the Locarno Film Festival, the Moon and Stars’ pop concerts and the Ascona Jazz festival to different leisure activities, such as biking, hiking, mountaineering, aquatic sports or climbing activities at the entrance to the spectacular Maggia valley.
TICINO
Ticino is the southern-most Canton of Switzerland and is situated just beyond the Swiss Alps, on the border with Northern Italy. Made up of 4 main regions (Mendrisiotto, Luganese, Bellinzonese and Locarnese), Ticino has a population of about 350’000 people.

The morphology of Ticino is characterized by the presence of glacial lakes, mountains that rise to 3’400 meters above sea level, deep valleys and hundreds of kilometers of rivers, all of which create a spectacular and attractive environment. Ticino mixes the best of Switzerland and Italy, and is characterized by its unique nature, architecture, culture and gastronomy.
The official language in Ticino is Italian, one of the four official Swiss languages, but many of the people who live there also speak French, German and English.
